KEMEA Yamaha Yamalube

KEMEA Yamaha Official MX2 Race Report, GP4 Mexico.

Mexico hosted the last oversea race of the first part of the championship. Near the beautiful city of Leon the fourth GP of the season took place on the spectacular track.

Alvin Ostlund didn’t make the trip to Mexico as he wasn’t fit enough yet after his crash in Argentina.

In the qualification race Benoit and Brent finished 5th and 7th and were both feeling good on the high altitude track, situated about 1800m above sea level.

In the first moto both KEMEA riders were well placed in the top 10 and started working their way up. Benoit had an impressive run and made some great passes to finish second. Brent crossed the line in 8th position.

In the second moto Brent had a superb start and mixed it up with the leaders. After being passed in lap 5 by Seewer, Brent managed to stay in fifth and get 6th overall with this result. In the championship he remains in 6th position now.

Benoit had a bad jump out of the gate and was buried in the pack in the first corners. On top of that he crashed in the opening lap and had to start in last position. He put his head down and managed to come back to 8th position. Paturel got 5th overall but lost some points in the championship. He’s still in third but is 14 points away from the lead now.

"I’m really disappointed with the end result. Just as in Argentina the speed is there and I should have been on the box… But that’s motocross and I don’t need to panic. The season is still very long but I want to be better for sure in Arco."

Benoit Paturel

"I must say this was physically a hard weekend. With the lack of oxygen from the altitude combined with stomach cramps I had a though time. In the end I’m quiet happy though on the weekend. In the first moto I got a little stuck in 8th. I didn’t have much energy with my stomach hurting. In the second moto I had a great start and was able to ride a good race. Towards the end the pain came back but I fought hard to keep the 5th position. I’m happy we can go back to Europe now and get in the normal routine we are used to."
