Thor Race report: Desalle podiums in Indonesian heat.

The second leg of the Asian GP held in Semarang, Indonesia has put man and machine to the test in sweltering conditions for round 13 of the FIM MXGP series.

Thor’s Clement Desalle has jumped back on the podium with a 4-2 score to claim 3rd overall. The tenacious Belgian, lost a few spots on the opening lap of moto 1 after a good gate jump. He inherited a position when Febvre went missing and a calculated move on Paulin saw him cross the line in 4th, not far off Cairoli.

An even better start in moto 2 placed Desalle in the lead after the opening few turns but he relinquished the lead to Herlings moments later and had to chase the Dutchman for the remaining time on the clock. The second place finish and 3rd overall has strengthened his 3rd position in the MXGP overall standings.
Teammate, Julien Lieber, had to deal with a damaged front brake when he collided with another rider, so was sidelined in moto 1. He rebounded in moto 2 and pushed hard to move up the ladder into 5th spot with 10 minutes to go. The heat got the better of him yet he still salvaged a top 10 finish.

Evgeny Bobryshev experienced a weekend he would rather have forgotten however the Russian’s “never say die” attitude did deliver some championship points. A series of crashes that left Bobryshev with a painful knee and mild concussion showed his tough spirit with a 13-19 score.

A silver lining for the BOS team is that Jordi Tixier is set to rejoin in Loket for round 14 to be held in Czech Republic on the 21-22 July.
