KEMEA Yamaha Official MX team: GP5 Leon Mexico
The second part of the South American trip took place at Leon in Mexico. For a while it got tensed as the bikes only arrived at the very last moment on the track, but with some great efforts of the mechanics, riders were able to take off for the fifth GP of the 2016 season.
Benoit Paturel got an 8th place in Saturdays qualification. He got a good jump out of the gate in the first moto on Sunday and was riding in 8th after the first lap. After some good moves and a bit of luck of others making mistakes Paturel managed to move up to 5th. In the end he couldn’t hold on to this place and after a couple mistakes he got passed by a train of riders to finish 8th.
The second moto was similar for the French rider. He managed to move up again to fifth but towards the end of the race he had to let by Jonass and Brylyakov, who both crashed earlier. He finished 7th in the moto and was also 7th overall in Mexico. In the championship standings he remains sixth.
"I’m not pleased with this weekend. I expected a lot better and wasn’t riding well. The next two weeks I will work hard to be stronger in Latvia. I want to thank the whole team though for their support and confidence in me!"
