KEMEA Yamaha Yamalube race report: Paturel Impressive in Lacapelle Victory
Kemea Yamaha Official MX2 rider Benoit Paturel showed great form in the South of France this weekend, winning two of three races at Lacapelle-Marival in his final preparations before the MX2 season begins in Qatar later this week.
Paturel demonstrated a high level of readiness for the upcoming season, winning two out of three combined MX1-MX2 races. Kemea Yamaha Official MX teammate Brent Van doninck made his race debut, but found technical issues complicating two of three finishes.
In the first race Benoit finished second behind Valentin Teillet, while Van doninck crossed the finish line ninth as as the fourth MX2 rider.
Paturel really had the flow today and won the two following races, taking the overall win and the MX2 win in front of Aleksandr Tonkov and Australian rider Hunter Lawrence. Van doninck had to leave the second race with a suspension problem, while in the third race a stone got stuck in his brake.
"For me it was an important test today to see how the pain in my arm would be. It felt really good so thats a big relief. I had a lot of arm-pump today, but thats probably because it was my first race this year. It got better as the day went on so thats positive."
"Im really pumped on my races in Lacappelle. My riding was really good and I felt comfortable on the bike. Most of all I felt free in my head. I used to think too much and that influences my riding. I have to try to do this at the GPs too, and I will ride much better then. This is a great confidence boost and Im looking forward to next week!"
