THOR RACE REPORT:  Drama for Prado in Teutschenthal.

A massive French partisan crowd has turned out for round 12 of the FIM Motocross World championship at the touristic town of Lacapelle Marival north of Toulouse in the South of France.

Heated racing gave the crowd their monies worth with home favourite Romain Febvre and Jeffrey Herlings going bar to bar throughout the day. Pauls Jonass and Antonino Cairoli were evenly matched Thor riders in moto one where your starting position pretty much determined the result. Jorge Prado missed form due to the injury sustained in Germany the weekend before, yet he still soldiered on to gain some points in the standings by finishing 16th. Jonass would cross the checkered flag in 4th and Cairoli in 5th a few seconds adrift.

Cairoli grabbed the all-important hole-shot in moto however his advantage was short lived as Herlings and then Febvre moved passed and checked out. The nine-time world champ would hold 3rd position and fend off a charging Gajser until 5 minutes was left on the clock. He would have to settle for 4th with Pauls Jonass trailing by a mere second in 5th. Prado did his best to salvage 12th place. He now occupies 4th in the championship standings with team-mate Cairoli in 5th.

Thor’s MX2 rookie, Mattia Guadagnini bounced back after a disappointing German outing the week before. Qualifying in pole position, Guadagnini showed good speed all day and posted a 2-3 score for second overall. The friendly Italian sits 3rd in the standings a mere 4 points shy of Jago Geerts in second.

With no time to rest, riders head even more south to Madrid, Spain for round 13 next weekend 17 October at the Xanadú – Arroyomolinos circuit.
