Thor race report: Cairoli wins second moto to claim second overall in OSS MXGP.

Clear blue skies welcomed round 4 of the FIM Motocross world championship to Oss in the Netherlands for some heated racing on the sandy and technical circuit.

9-time world champion, Antonio Cairoli, kept his quest for his tenth world title alive with a stellar ride placing the Italian second on the podium and now 3rd in the points standings.  A lesser start in the first moto saw Cairoli have to come through the pack while eating a lot of sand and dirt and in the final minutes a small crash while trying to pass team-mate Prado lost him a valuable spot, however Cairoli bounced back in the second moto. While Prado grabbed the hole shot in moto 2, Cairoli appeared in 5th place on the opening lap and then started his hunt for the lead. On a dramatic last lap charge he passed Gajser and won the moto.  Prado’s 6-3 score would land the Spaniard 4th overall, just off the box.

Brian Bogers would have a good home GP and ran 3rd for a long while in the second moto and would eventually come home in 5th.  Team-mate Pauls Jonass Posted 7th in moto 1 with a strong ride while shadowing Cairoli for most of the moto.  A crash in moto 2 put left him with a ride through the pack to eventually finish 13th.

MX2 red plate holder, Mattia Guadagnini, was involved in a first turn crash and had to remount last and fight his way up the ladder. Another get off would relegate the MX2 rookie further down the field however he fought back to 14th spot.  A better start and solid ride in moto 2 would deliver a solid 5th place finish for the youngster has he salvaged valuable championship points and now holds second overall in the championship.

With no time to rest, riders and teams move east to the Czech Republic, and the picturesque circuit of Loket on the 25th July.
