KEMEA Yamaha Official MX team: Benoit Paturel shines in home GP at St Jean d' Angély
After clinching his first podium of the season in Spain last week, Benoit Paturel once again had a great performance at his home GP in St-Jean d’Angély finishing at the second step of the podium. Leading most of the first moto in front of a fantastic crowd gave him wings. At one moment Benoit made the French people believe in a potential stunt to beat the unstoppable Herlings. Only in the very last phase of the race Herlings managed to pass the French rider, who held on for second and was received by the fans as a hero.
With a boost of confidence Benoit once again had a good start in the second moto. In an exciting five rider battle Benoit finished third behing Herlings and Anstie and clinched second overall for the second week in a row. In the championship standings Paturel remains in fourth position but once more gets a little closer.
"This is so awesome… The podium last weekend was great but to finish on the podium here is unbelievable! The feeling of the whole crowd behind you is so special and it motivated me even more. In the first moto I was feeling comfortable in the lead but towards the end I got into some lappers and got afraid to crash. I lost quiet some time in some sections and Herlings was right there. In the second moto we had a great battle with Seewer and Jonass and Anstie. Maybe I could have charged to get to Anstie, but I didn’t want to take too much risks anymore and secure the podium. Let’s continue this flow!"
