KEMEA Yamaha Official MX Team: GP7 Teutschenthal, Germany
After the Latvian round last week 1/3rd of the championship is already behind us. These days the races are coming pretty fast with three back to back rounds. Last weekend the Talkessel track in Teutschenthal hosted the seventh GP under a bright warm sun.
For the KEMEA team the weekend didn’t stat too good though with Maxime crashing out of FP1. In the crash he landed badly on his arm and broke the upper arm. He went to the hospital in Halle for a check and there they diagnosed the break was not clean. After communication with his own doctor a pin was placed in the arm on Sunday. He is expected to be out 6 to 8 weeks.
Benoit Paturel wanted to continue the good feeling he got in Latvia last week and felt good all weekend long on the technical and tricky track. Brent is still recovering from his injury and his goal was to limit the damage again, like he did last week. With an impressive 4th for Brent and a 6th for Benoit qualification went pretty good for the Yamaha riders.
At the start of the first moto Benoit reacted a fraction too early and got stuck in the gate. He started the race in last postion but managed to get to 18th already at the first timing section at the start line. Steadily he made his way up to the front to finish 7th in the first moto. Brent was only 26th at the first sector and he too started an impressive comeback to finish 8th.
In the final moto Benoit had a superb start. He rode in third for the first half of the moto staying in the wheel of the leaders, but once Herlings and Seewer caught him, he had to let them by. With Anstie making a little mistake he finished 4th in this exciting moto.
Brent also had a good jump out of the gate and rode a solid race to finish 7th in the second moto. Both team mate got 5th and 6th overall in Germany and did a good job in the championship standings. Benoit moves up to 5th now and Brent follow a few places further in 10th.
"I really enjoyed this weekend and had a lot of fun on this rutty track. I feel better and better and have the feeling we’re getting there. It’s a shame I ran into the gate in moto 1 but I managed to come back strong. The second moto my speed was really good and I got 4th. I would like to thank everybody in the team supporting me fully at all times. Off to Arco now!"
"To be honest I’m pretty disappointed. It was a difficult weekend for me because I know I can do better than this. With my hip I can’t do whatever I want and especially here with all the ruts it’s really hard and frustrating. I know I have to take it step by step though, and this was already better then last week, so I hope for another progression in Arco."
