KEMEA Yamaha Yamalube

TWO KEMEA YAMAHA'S IN TOP 8.

The FIM world championship made its return to Bulgaria for the first time since 2014. Ben Watson finished fifth at the old school circuit in Sevlievo, while Anthony Rodriguez came home in eighth position.

No Jago Geerts in action at the hilly, fast and slick Bulgarian track this weekend. The Belgian is still recovering from a broken collarbone and hopes to make his comeback in Assen in three weeks time.

Ben Watson had a decent start in the first moto (sixth), but lost two places after a small crash on the third lap. The Briton needed some time to find his rhythm again. Once he did, Watson managed to gain two places after passing Van Doninck and Weltin, finishing sixth. His teammate Anthony Rodriguez started just outside the top ten, but crashed on the first lap and had to start from dead last. The Venezuelan had to work hard to get seven championship points in 14th position.

Watson took another good start on his YZ250F (fifth) in the second moto and quickly passed Weltin to get into fourth position. After a small crash of Jonass the Briton moved up into third place. It seemed that Watson could consolidate that third spot, but in the end of the race Jonass came back strong and passed the Briton again. Rodriguez got stuck behind a fallen rider at the start and had to come back from far behind (18th) again. The Venezuelan didn't waste a lot of time and was moving up quickly through the pack, finishing in sixth position. Goof for eighth place overall.
Watson was fifth overall and remains fourth in the championship standings. He even took some extra points on Covington and Vlaanderen.

"This was a positive weekend, for sure a step in the right direction after not an easy few weeks. This is a result we can build on. We still have a few things to work on. I want to keep improving each week. Improving on myself and on the bike. I'm not focusing on the championship standing. My goal is to fight for an overall podium again as soon as possible."

#919 Ben Watson

"I had a big crash in the first lap of the first moto because another rider went sideways in a jump. I took me a long time to get up and going, but I was able to come back to 14th. In the second moto some guys crashed in front of me in the start. I had to come back from way behind again. I was able to go fast and made some good passes. I came all the way up to 6th. I 'm really happy with that."

"Quite a good Grand Prix. Watson was looking good this weekend. He had some problems with his rear brake in the first moto, which did cost him some time and places. But he reacted strongly in the second moto, in which he was fighting with the top guys again. Also important: he took some extra points on Covington and Vlaanderen in the championship standings. Rodriguez had to work hard in both motos to come back, but he did surprise me again with his speed and determination."
