KEMEA Yamaha Yamalube

KEMEA Yamaha Official MX2 Race Report, GP6 Valkenswaard, Netherlands.

The GP of Valkenswaard may occur in the Netherlands but in a way it’s a home GP for the KEMEA Yamaha team. As we’re only a couple kilometers away from the workshop, the track is always filled with a lot of fans, sponsors and friends.

After a hard GP last week in Italy, all three riders were really motivated to shine in this race. The track is a little sandy but quiet hard underneath, so by the end of the weekend it get’s really tricky and hard to ride.

In qualification Benoit got the best start position finishing in 8th. Alvin and Brent followed a bit further away in 13th and 14th. Not the best way to start the weekend for the riders as they expected more, but the real races are on Sunday.

In the first moto all three riders got a bad start and were far outside the top 10 in the first lap. Brent managed to find some good lines in the early stages and moved up very fast. He would come back strong to cross the line in 5th position. Benoit followed the wheel of Brent in the early laps and recovered to 7th. Alvin had a solid 11th finish in this moto.

In the second moto Brent got a better start and was immediately inside the top 10. Once again he showed great speed and determination moving forward to third position. He tried to get to the back wheel of Jeremy Seewer, but just couldn’t get there. He finished third which gave him third overall on the podium. The second podium for Brent in his career and the second one for the KEMEA team this year.
Benoit was ranked in 17th after the first lap and had once again a long way to go. This time the Frenchman came back to 9th and got 7th overall. He remains in 5th in the championship just ahead of Brent.
Alvin finished in 13th after a though race and not being at his full fitness yet. He gets 11th overall and moves up to 19th in the championship standings.

Next race is in two weeks in Kegums, Latvia.

" This weekend was better then last week but the results are still not what we expect, so I’m not happy with it. We keep struggling in the start, so that’s the main focus right now."

Benoit Paturel

" In the first moto I had to give so much energy to come back from behind to 5th. In the final moto my start was better and I could get third pretty fast. I tried to get to Seewer but  he was a little faster. I’m happy though with the podium. It was a hard weekend and after the difficult year I had last year it feels so good to be on the podium again and to see hard work pays off. Im’ looking forward already to Latvia where we get a similar track. Thanks to everybody in the team and around me for the support!"

Brent Vandoninck

"I’m satisfied with the weekend. I like this track a lot and it suits me good. But I haven’t ridden much in the sand lately and got tired in my shoulder after a while. But I managed to do two solid motos on Sunday so for now I’m happy and we’ll keep working."
